Thursday, November 3rd, 2022, an operation by the PNH's special anti-gang unit (UTAG), which began on Wednesday with the help of new armored vehicles and equipment purchased by the Government, made it possible to regain control of the Varreux terminal (70 % of Haiti's fuel reserves), which had been in the hands of the heavily armed men of the "G9" led by "Barbecue" for nearly two months, paralyzing all activities in the country https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37702-haiti-flash-barbecue-blocks-the-varreux-terminal-and-defeats-the-pm-video.html

There were many exchanges of fire during the operation but no report is yet available nor any official information on the progress of the operation.

The men of the "G9" ceding their positions one by one, the PNH regained control of the oil storage facilities and routed the men of the "G9", a success announced by the Government on the night of Thursday to Friday which did not did not fail to congratulate the PNH in a press release "[...] for the professionalism it has shown today, by taking back control of the Varreux terminal which was under the control of armed men [...]"

The security forces now occupy the site and control the entire perimeter of the terminal and intend to remain in their positions to ensure the security of the site in order to allow the resumption of fuel distribution activities in complete safety, while continuing at the same time with heavy machinery and armored vehicles, to clear the access roads to the terminal blocked by barricades...

The distribution of fuel could start again on Monday, November 6, estimates the authorities concerned.
