The former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide should make soon his first major public appearance since his return to Haiti. The former Senator Louis Gérald Gilles declared that the former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide had the intention to attend to the inauguration ceremony of the expansion of the University of the Aristide Foundation and to deliver a speech on education at the event which he did not specify the exact date.

Since his return last March, the former president, has avoided the public apparitions and the interviews with the media and stayed mostly in his private residence in Tabarre. The lawyer of Mr. Aristide in the U.S., had indicated shortly after the return from exile of J.B Aristide, that the former President met his old friends, to develop his action plan "I think he's trying to listen to people and find out what's going on in education and in the country in general [...] think it would be odd if he came back and started making statements, instead of listening to the people of Haiti about what's happened the past seven years."

Robert Maguire, a specialist of Haiti who teaches at the Trinity University in Washington had declared about the public absence of the former President "He seems to have disappeared off the radar screen [...] I'm surprised we haven't heard from him. I don't know what to make of it."
