Haiti - Environment : COP27, «The time for good intentions must be over» dixit Minister James Cadet

The second part of the High-Level Segment of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) opened on November 15, 2022 in Sharm EI-Seikh (Egypt), with the participation of Haiti.

During this event, during his speech, James CADET, Minister of the Environment of Haiti, drew attention to the fact that Small Island Developing States and Least Developed Countries are very exposed to climate risks. all sorts. He explained that these climatic events which continue to increase and intensify, cause extreme poverty "In this context of multifaceted and multi-risk climate crisis, the capacity of our institutions to propose adequate adaptation measures is more than ever necessary. The time for good intentions must be over. The countries most affected by the phenomenon, such as Haiti, cannot wait any longer."

This high-level segment was also an opportunity for Cadet to launch a call for inclusion, broad participation from all countries "We also have a duty and responsibility to prioritize and strengthen the global climate fabric through real common actions, through the active and direct involvement of all peoples, all nations and all countries, in particular the Republic of China Taiwan, which continues to amaze the world with its environmental commitments in several countries, particularly in Haiti."

This 27th Conference aims to be the COP for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, in particular the measures of the Glasgow Pact.
