Haiti - Security : Meeting between the Chiefs of Police of Haiti and the Dominican Republic

The Chiefs of Police, Joseph A. Polanco Gomez (Dominican Republic) and of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) Mario Andrésol, met last Friday at the Hotel Taino in the border town of Jimani. The meeting aimed among others to improve and develop common strategies to fight against organized crime and the smuggling ore effectively. During this meeting, the two men shared information on gangs operating in the two territories in order to locate and dismantle them.

Polanco Gomez said that the police services should not allow the growth of crime, both the Haitian side than on the Dominican side. Stressing that if both countries cooperate, drug trafficking, of weapons and people and the theft of vehicles can be controlled. Pending the achievement of this goal, Mario Andrésol declared that the institutions of Haiti and those of the Dominican Republic are working together in this fight.

Proof of this collaboration, the Chief of the Dominican Police handed over to the PNH two Haitian fugitives arrested and jailed in the Dominican Republic, Samuel Beuplan [25] and José son-son Vitale [34]. For its part the PNH handed stolen vehicles (60) in the Dominican Republic, and found in Haiti.
