Haiti - Security : Graduation of 715 new police officers and 94 new Commissioners

Friday, December 23, 2022, on the campus of the National Police Academy (ANP) located on the road of Frères (Pétion-ville)took place the graduation ceremony of the 32nd promotion of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and of the 7th cohort of ANP Commissioners.

This ceremony took place in the presence of the Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, President of the Superior Council of the National Police, of Me Emmelie Prophète-Milcé, Minister of Justice and Public Security, of the Director General a.i of the PNH, Frantz Elbé, members of the PNH high command, members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, Representatives of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), Representatives of partner institutions of the PNH, relatives and friends among others.

714 police officers, including 174 women, from the 32nd promotion called "Synergie" took the oath before joining the ranks of the police institution.

94 new Police Commissioners, including 5 women, received their diploma from the promotion called "Harington Rigaud" in memory of the Divisional Commissioner and former Director of the ANP assassinated by armed bandits on Friday, November 25th. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38224-haiti-flash-the-director-of-the-police-academy-executed.html

The Prime Minister addressing the new commissioners and police said :

"The Government, despite its budgetary constraints, is determined to pursue efforts to better equip the police and to provide specialized units with the appropriate means to be able to rout the bandits.

The PNH has demonstrated that it has the will to accomplish its missions. Their victories are proof of that. But it is clear that its means are insufficient.

We are not asking friendly countries to come and do the job for us. We ask them to accompany us so that after their departure the PNH is able to continue alone so that we no longer have to call them for help in the future.

You new Commissioners will stand guard. You will have to be role models. Your leadership, your respect for the rules, your daily behavior should serve to show the way to other police officers.

You, the new recruits of the 32nd promotion, the population expects a lot from you, courage, integrity, honesty, respect for individual rights.

To the new graduates I wish a fruitful career within the PNH. In these festive times, I wish all police officers and their families happiness, health and peace for the year 2023."
