Haiti - Cuture : Program of 6th Transcultural Forum of Contemporary Art
The 6th Transcultural Forum of Contemporary Art organized by the Foundation AfricAméricA and its partners will be held in Port-au-Prince, Petion Ville and Croix-des-Bouquets, Sunday, September 25 to Monday, October 3, 2011.

The activities will begin with a press conference in the premises of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, Monday, Sept. 26, at 10am. The 11 international artists will be invited to take cognizance of their place of welcome and their work team, consists largely of graduate students from the last promotion of the ENARTS.

On Tuesday afternoon, from 2pm at the National Directorate of Book, the writer Jean Morisset will sign his latest book, Haïti délibérée, published at Mémoire d'Encrier. In the same place will open an exhibition of drawings of the haitian artist Casséus Joseph. These drawings, drawn on the travel books of Jean Morisset, were brought together by him in honor of his friend who died in 2008.

After the sale signature to the National Directorate of Book, the evening will continue at the French Institute (6pm), with a a round table on the "Art in the City", that will bring together stakeholders around the French architect Jean-Loup Pivin, director of the Revue Noire and of project _trans- associated to this edition of Forum of Contemporary Art.

The following two mornings, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 will be filled by co-organized tours with the FOKAL to the Park Martissant and in the gingerbread neighborhood under rehabilitation. The afternoon conferences will take place to the FOKAL, to 5pm on the following themes: "Cultural and Territorial Development Project" by Bruno Airaud and "Douala, metamorphosis" by Didier Schaub.

Friday 30 will begin with a guided tour that will bring the walkers to the viewpoint of Boutilliers to the Grand Rue, where they will be welcomed by the sculptors of the collective Atis Rezistans who will have worked alongside Ezequiel Taveras. The guided tour is open to the public provided that it can move from one place to another.

In the afternoon, from 4pm, at the Galerie Monnin, will take place the inauguration of the exhibition "30 and almost dreams" conceived by Joel Andrianomearisoa.

On Saturday morning of October 1 will lead the team of the Forum and its audience to the Croix-des-Bouquets to visit the workshops of artists and artisans of iron, and of the exhibition at the Museum Georges Liautaud, of the works made in collaboration with Kossi Assou. In the evening (6pm), the French Institute of Haiti will host the exhibition "Bocio, divine breath" of Ishola Akpo.

Throughout the day of Sunday, October 2, visitors will be welcomed on the premises of the National School of Arts to see the works realized by international artists invited of Forum, paintings, performances and multimedia projections.

This edition of the Transcultural Forum of Contemporary Art of Port-au-Prince joined the project _trans-, led by BICFL/Revue Noire and realized in the framework of the ACP Group funded by the European Union. It is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the European Development Fund (Arcades - Support Program for the Strengthening of Culture and Art for Social and Economic Development), the French Institute, Foundation Knowledge and Freedom (FOKAL), of Constrat, of group IBI-DAA , of the LGL SA and the company Voilà.

  • Monday, 26/09: press conference at the MCC (10am) / projection as a prelude to the inauguration of the LCC MCC (6pm)
  • Tuesday, 27/09: sale-signing Jean Morisset to the DNL (2pm) / round table "Art in the City" at IFH (6pm)
  • Wednesday, 28/09: guided tour of the park Martissant (9am) / conference FOKAL (5pm): "Cultural and Territorial Development Project" by Bruno Airaud
  • Thursday 29/09 guided tour of the neighborhood gingerbread (9am) / conference FOKAL (5pm): "Douala, metamorphosis" by Didier Schaub
  • Friday 30/09: guided tour of Boutilliers to the Grand Rue (8am) / exhibition "30 and almost dreams" at the Galerie Monnin (4pm)
  • Saturday 1/10: guided tour of the Croix-des-Bouquets (10am) and exhibition at the Museum Georges Liautaud / exhibition "Bocio, divine breath" of Akpo Ishola at the French Institute of Haiti (6pm)
  • Sunday 2/10: Open House at the Ecole Nationale des Arts: exhibitions, performances, paintings, projections, etc..
