Haiti - Aviation : DR will train Haitian technicians on air traffic control
Friday, February 3rd, 2023, Héctor Porcella, the Director General a.i. of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) informed that the Dominican Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA) will provide training to Haitian technicians who will be in charge of operations of the new control tower which is under construction at Toussaint Louverture International Airport https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34517-haiti-security-construction-of-an-atm-complex-and-a-new-control-tower-at-the-international-airport.html

The ASCA will begin in the coming months several comprehensive courses on air traffic control at the aerodrome and approach control, among other training, that Haitian technicians will receive.

Porcella and Laurent Joseph Dumas Director General of the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) signed an agreement by which they agreed to continue to improve collaboration and technical assistance related to the coordination of the provision of air traffic and/or air navigation between the two Nations.

IDAC is a "leader in the region" in terms of training and education through ASCA, will provide civil aviation-related assistance to Haiti, which will include training students in aviation and aeronautical management and air traffic control, among others.

Let's recall that the construction of a new Air Traffic Management (ATM) Complex in Haiti and a new control tower for the Toussaint Louverture International Airport https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34517-haiti-security-construction-of-an-atm-complex-and-a-new-control-tower-at-the-international-airport.html is co-financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Public Treasury Haitian.

The estimated cost of the project allocated to the works and equipment by the international firm ADP Ingénierie is 20 million US dollars (contract signed in 2020).

The 32-month Works were launched in January 2022 and should be completed in 2024.
