The UN calls for an end to the expulsions of Haitians
On Friday, April 28, 2023, as part of an emergency alert procedure, the 18 independent experts of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) launched an appeal to the countries of the Americas and the Caribbean to suspend deportations of Haitians as their country faces an unprecedented wave of violence. The committee expressed concern about deportation measures taken "without an adequate assessment of the protection needs" of each individual.

The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands have announced repressive measures against Haitians in an irregular migration situation while the United States has presented a plan to allow accelerated deportations of Haitians and other migrants to Mexico. From January to March 2023 the Dominican Republic repatriated more than 75,000 Haitians.

Exam texts in a difficult school context
On the initiative of the Ministry of National Education, nearly fifty developers, supervisors and operators of entry of examination texts for pupils of the 9th Fundamental Year and learners of the Centers of family education were brought together in a workshop as part of a training session. It is a question of seeing with these experts accustomed to developing examination texts, how to offer relevant and standardized examinations taking into account the difficult school reality. These exams must respect the program, be concise, clear and accessible while remaining subject to psychometric and pedagogical criteria, hence the importance of training these experts in order to ensure that the exam texts produced will be of high quality.

The UN alongside midwives
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFRA in Haiti) distributed essential kits to 37 midwives in the ten departments of the country. Each kit is composed of medical, hygiene and protection materials as well as living comfort materials to improve the quality of sexual and reproductive health care. This donation was made as part of the "Saj fanm pou Fanm" project, which contributes to strengthening the profession and practice of midwifery.
