Haiti - FLASH : The USA modifies the temporary stay program 19/05/2023 08:30:22
Let's recall that the program grants 30,000 monthly humanitarian permits to migrants from these four countries, who have a sponsorship (sponsors) on American territory https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38566-haiti-flash-new-us-entry-program-for-haitian-migrants-conditions-and-steps-to-follow.html Effective May 17, 2023, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), an agency of the Department of Homeland Security, began randomly selecting nearly half of the total monthly requests, regardless of the date of receipt. The other half of the monthly total will be reviewed based on when the request was submitted, prioritizing older cases, as was done previously. USCIS updated the process because the number of sponsors filing Form I-134A "is significantly higher than the 30,000 monthly travel authorizations available." The goal of this change to the review process is to "maintain a meaningful and equal opportunity for all applicants to present their case," USCIS said, warning that it does not accept more than one request for each case. Applicants and sponsors can check the status of their files on the agency's website. In April 2023, according to figures from the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), 28,738 migrants from the four beneficiary countries of this program entered the United States under this Program.
