Nearly 6 people killed every day
The Organization of Citizens for a New Haiti (OCNH), in its report of June 1st, 2023, reveals that 179 people were killed in May (5.7 people every day). 133 in the Ouest department, including 66 in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets and 34 in Pétion-ville.

France : VISA application
The Embassy of France in Haiti strongly recommends that you anticipate the submission of your visa application, which can be made up to 6 months before the planned date of entry into the Schengen area. In high season (May to October), appointment and file processing times increase significantly. As the visa department does not have the capacity to advance the appointments made with Sogebank, it is recommended that you schedule your appointment at least one month in advance and submit your application at least 15 days before the departure date.

Weapons and ammunition seized at customs
This week, customs officers in Saint-Marc discovered and seized in the morning several automatic weapons hidden in "igloos" as well as thousands of cartridges of different calibers.

Taiwan to the aid of farmers
The technical mission of Taiwan (Republic of China) in Haiti, in collaboration with the "Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief", worked together to help repair a 300-meter-long irrigation canal in the farm region of Chantal, in the southern province of Haiti. The repair of the irrigation system will help provide a stable source of water to farmers over an area of 50 hectares, allowing them to cultivate rice and food crops, while promoting regional agricultural development.

Towards the purification of the PNH
Members of the High Command of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) proceeded on June 1 to the inauguration of the office of the vetting process (Verification) in Port-au-Prince. This is a structure for monitoring the integrity and professionalism of PNH personnel. According to Emmelie Prophet Milcé, Acting Minister of Justice who took part in the ceremony, this structure will strengthen the credibility of the PNH and restore the confidence of the population in the police institution.

Voodoo priest member of "Kokorat San Ras" gang arrested
Belando, thus known, voodoo priest and member of the "Kokorat San Ras" gang, was arrested by the police at Croix Périsse, 1st communal section of Estère, (Dept. Artibonite). A 9mm caliber firearm and two loaded magazines were found in his possession.
