Haiti - Politic : The PM reiterates the request for intervention of a specialized international armed force in Haiti

Friday, June 9, 2023, Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, returned to the country, 24 hours after his participation in Nassau in the Bahamas of the United States/CARICOM and Dominican Republic Summit.

During a press briefing given at the Diplomatic Lounge, the Head of Government underlined that the discussions at this summit were frank and the problems were posed frankly. Energy issues; the modalities for mobilizing funds from multilateral donors; the climatic situation; arms trafficking and food security were, among other items, on the agenda.

Ariel Henry, also announced that the United States of America has taken the decision to extend the HOPE/HELP Act which should end in 2025. Good news for the textile sector. For its part, Jamaica reaffirmed its desire to participate in a specialized multinational force, while the Bahamian Prime Minister Philips Davis, who co-chaired this Summit with the American Vice-President Kamala Harris, declared that he was continuing international contacts concerning requests for international assistance.
