Haiti - Politic : Meeting Martelly - Lambert

The coordinator of the platform INITE and leader of the majority in the senate, the Senator Joseph Lambert, met with the President Michel Martelly as part of the configuration of the Government, the Senator of Centre, Simon Dieuseul Desras reveals some details...

"...the coordinator of the G-16, the Senator Joseph Lambert met with the President Martelly as part of the configuration of the government, he asked advices in order to know how the political parties could participate, to have a government 'large', but from what we learned there are many political parties that withdrew or chose not to participate, because they say that they are not ready to cohabit with certain personalities, personalities in relation with the human rights...

Apart from that he told us that the President Martelly seems very flexible, very open so that an opening is made at the level of the Government. But the feeling that we have is that the offer he made does not apply to sovereign ministries (ministères régaliens) [...] they are not ministries that have a representative budget [...] the offer is not really interesting, with the result that many political parties have decided not to participate [...]

According to Senator Joseph Lambert there is a manifestation of will, to have an opening at the level of the government, to have a participation of others sectors, in order to have stability at the government level."

The senator Desras does not agree personally to integrate the new government but explains that he's only a "element of G16, and often when the decisions are not shared, it is the vote that decides, so far my position is to let the President Martelly establish his own government..."
