The Ministry of National Education has noted, for several years, the uncontrolled and non-standard creation, despite the many reminders on the process and the legal framework that should lead to the creation of a public school.

After investigation, the Ministry registered some sixty schools under the name of "national high school", without construction of appropriate buildings, without planning for administrative and teaching staff, and, most often, apart from the needs of the school map. What is more, some of these anarchic "high schools" operate on the premises of public schools with an overstaffed administrative and pedagogical staff sometimes exceeding the number of students present in these schools.

For the 2022-2023 academic year alone, around fifteen schools posing as "high schools" tried to present candidates for official exams.

Faced with this disorderly situation, and to avoid any confusion, the Ministry is making public the list of secondary schools in the Republic created by decision of the State.

"Heads of other schools improperly designated "high schools", and whose names do not appear on this list are enjoined to report to the competent services of the Departmental Directorates of Education (DDE) for the appropriate administrative follow-up. These establishments, after needs analysis, could be regularized with regard to the requirements of the National School Accreditation Policy."

The staff appointed and assigned to these anarchic "high schools", not meeting the needs, will be redeployed to other public schools.

In addition, in order to preserve the rights and interests of students attending these schools presented as high schools, the Ministry guarantees, this year, their participation in official examinations.

The Ministry remains committed to applying the National School Accreditation Policy, and will soon make public the list of public schools at the preschool, basic and vocational levels.
