Haiti - FLASH : Haiti has reopened its border gate and allowed Haitians to enter Dajabón
Despite political opposition from some "leaders" to a partial reopening of the border, Haiti reopened its doors on Sunday, allowing a large number of Haitians to enter Dajabón so that they can retrieve goods stuck on the border on the Dominican territory due to the border closure. The opening of the door on the Haitian side, to allow access to the binational market via the cross-border bridge, was obtained after a meeting on Sunday, October 15, 2023, of a delegation of Dominican businessmen led on Sunday by the businessman Héctor Kilderes Taveras, with the participation of merchants and authorities from Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

At the same time, the National Research Department continues the biometric registration process at entry through the Dajabón border, so that Haitian traders who intend to participate in the exchange in the Provisional Trade Corridors can come buy and sell their goods.

Let's recall that this tense situation between the two countries has its origins in the radical measures taken by the Dominican Government following the construction of an irrigation canal on Haitian territory, with water capture on the Massacre River that the Republic neighbor disputes...
