Haiti - Tourism : Speech of the Minister of Tourism, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin 24/10/2011 11:08:57 "...It is with great humility but also with great determination, that today I have the honor and the privilege to support the Ministry of Tourism. My words of circumstances will not be limited to a presentation on the importance of tourism, this industry 'without chimney' that will have to play a key role in the development of our country as a priority sector of the four "E" of the Presidency. Indeed, the tourism as a transversal activity, protects and enhances the environment, stimulate economic growth, promotes education and creates sustainable jobs [...] ...The Ministry of Tourism in its mission, has the responsibility to develop and to plan the sector according to the following three points: promotion, training and regulation. Our objectives are clear, establish the National Tourism Council, model of public-private partnership, make know the laws that currently govern the sector, while continuing to modernize them with the cooperation of parliamentarians. Working on a national tourism training curriculum, to enable new generations to acquire the necessary knowledge with the opening of four professional schools of trades of tourism, the first is scheduled for January 2012 in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince. Finalize and implement the development plans of the priority tourist areas according to the "Tourism Master Plan", will allow us to inaugurate among others, two seaside resorts before the end of presidential quinquennium, and obtain direct private investment, both nationally and internationally, in the many activities related to tourism. Improve the image of the country is necessary and promote our various destinations, with our participation international and regional, organize familiarization trips for travel agents and tour operators, promote the many attractions : tourist, cultural and natural sites, collaborate in the establishment of basic services in the targeted regions such as security, sanitation, road infrastructure, both for the best of the local population and the visitors."
