Since the application of Dominican decree 668-22 which provides for the expulsion from Dominican territory of all foreigners in an irregular migratory situation, the number of expulsions of Haitians has increased considerably.

Persistent insecurity, characterized by the expansion of areas under the influence of armed groups, is leading to an increase in the number of internally displaced people. Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic has decided to open their border exclusively to trade.
