Haiti - Sports : The 16th Pan American Games ends without a medal for Haiti
The 16th Pan American Games taking place this year in Guadalajara [Mexico] from October 15 to 30, 2011. 12 Haitian athletes participate in these competitions in five disciplines: Athletics - Judo - Tennis - Taekwondo, and Weightlifting. The results of the competitions of this week in athletics and judo, have seen disappear our last hopes of medals. However, we congratulate our athletes, who without receiving the honors of the podium, were able to proudly represent, with all their energy, Haiti to the eyes of the world. Thank you for all your efforts.

In athletics, Thursday, at the 110 meter hurdles, the Haitian Jeffrey Julmis inished the race seventh with a time of 13.87 seconds, not enough to qualify, [only the first three were qualified for further competition]. The fastest was the Cuban Dayron Robles with a time of 13.22 seconds.

In triple jump Samyr Laine finished fifth (16.39), gold was awarded to Cuban Alexis Copelle (17.21), the silver to the Cuban Yoandris Betanzos 16.54 and the bronze to the Brazilian Jefferson Sabino (16.51).

In the semi-finals 1 of 2 of Men's 800m, Moise Joseph, was qualified by performance with a time of 1:49.12, wo he will participate in the final to be held Friday.

In high jump Josue Louis ranked 16th with 2.00 meters, gold was awarded to Donald Alexander Thomas of Bahamas with 2.32 meters, silver to the Ecuadorian Diego Javier Ferrin with 2.30 meters and to the Cuban Victor Rafael Moya with 2.26 meters.

Friday, during the final of 800 meters men, Moise Joseph, finished 8th with a time of 1:54.88, the gold was awarded to Andy Gonzalez of Cuba with 1:45.58, silver to Kleberson Davide of Brazil with 1:45.75 and the bronze to Raidel Acea of Cuba.

In Women's Triple Jump, Pascale Delaunay finished 13th (12.41), the gold was awarded to the Colombian Catherine Ibarguen (14.92), silver to the Cuban Yargeris Savigne (14.36) and the bronze to the Cuban Mabel Gay (14.28)

Yesterday Saturday in women's judo less than 52kg, Linouse Desravine in 1/8 final has faced the American Angelica Delgado. After a combat that lasted 1 minute 20 seconds, the American won with a score of 100/000.

At the repechage combat, Desravine faced the Colombian Desravine Yulieth Sanchez, after a short combat of 2 seconds, our national judoka, bowed before Yulieth Sanchez, with a score of 100/000.
