Haiti - Roads : Public works in action 21/01/2024 08:35:32
This work, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to the tune of 17.5 million US dollars, will be carried out over a period of 10 months, covering a total of 54.46 km of length for a width of 7.20 m of roadway. The works include the leveling of the current roadway platform, the recovery and reinforcement of the bituminous concrete wearing course, as well as the maintenance of engineering, sanitation and drainage structures, including the cleaning of ditches and outlets, and rectification of river beds. The rehabilitation of horizontal and vertical signaling works and the addition of light signals are also part of the project. The Minister visited the asphalt concrete gravel production plant of the "Consorcio Americano de la Construccion Haiti S.A" (COAMCO Haiti SA) an implementer of the project and the product preparation laboratory, where he spoke with the technical team responsible for producing bituminous concrete. At a press conference, Minister Pradel announced the launch of other projects, in particular the repair and rehabilitation of several roads, such as the coastline by the sea, the road from Saint Raphaël to the barrier on the RN# 3, the SOS route, the Bassin Rodeau du Cap, the road from the airport to the boulevard, among others. Stressing that the rehabilitation works of RN# 1 will start as soon as the tender process is completed, because the funds promised by the IDB are already available. These projects will not only be income-generating activities for the residents of the community, but will also strengthen the embankments on the road and allow gabioning in risk areas on this road linking the two departments.
