Student visa: Canada announces reduction in duration and number
The Canadian Government announced at the beginning of the week that it would limit the duration of study permits for international students to 2 years. This measure will not affect foreign students already registered in Canadian universities. In 2024, Canada plans to grant 364,000 permits to international students, or 35% less than in 2023.

Fatal accident in a sand mine

Year of investments in ports
The modernization of ports is among the main objectives of the National Port Authority (APN), which mentions various current projects and others to come in 2024. The rehabilitation of the port of Cap-Haïtien, financed by the American Agency for international development (USAID), to the tune of 24 million, should begin in a few days and concerns the storage area for containers and vehicles, circulation within the area and administrative buildings. Furthermore, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is about to finance studies for the construction and/or rehabilitation of several other port facilities in Haiti including the ports of Saint-Marc, Port-de-Paix, Miragoâne, Gonâve and Jérémie.
