Haiti - FLASH : The High Court of Nairobi blocks the deployment of the mission in Haiti

Friday January 26, 2024, following the complaint filed by opponent Ekuru Aukot, former defeated presidential candidate, the High Court of Nairobi blocked the decision of the Kenyan government to deploy a thousand police officers in Haiti.

Court Judge Enock Chacha Mwita said in his ruling "The National Security Council has no mandate to deploy national police officers outside Kenya. Such a decision contravenes the Constitution and the law and is therefore unconstitutional, illegal and invalid."

This decision marks a [temporary ?] halt to the highly anticipated multinational force in Haiti to try to stem the gangs...
