Urban guerrilla more than 60 victims
"For 5 days the gang war has been raging in downtown Port-au-Prince, particularly La Saline and the surroundings of Wharf Jérémie. At the origin of these clashes, a fracture within the G-9 coalition but also a fight for the extension of territories and control of the cutting of goods trucks and those leaving the Varreux oil terminal. A climate of urban guerrilla reigns in the capital, particularly in the districts of La Saline, Pont-Rouge and Carrefour de l’Aviation. At least 20 bandits from both camps were killed during these violent clashes, as well as at least ten civilians and more than 30 wounded by bullets who were unable to reach the hospital.

HUEH : 30 gunshot wounds treated in 4 days
From Saturday January 27 to Tuesday January 30, 2024, more than thirty gunshot wounds were received at the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH).

USA arms trafficking : Pittsburgh man pleads guilty
On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, a Pittsburgh man pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to violate federal firearms export laws. The Justice Department said Derby Clerfe, 44, purchased 9 handguns and gave them to another person to export to Haiti. Export information required by federal law has not been provided. Clerfe faces a maximum of 5 years in prison or a fine of $250,000 or both. Clerfe's conviction will be known on May 30.

Lost bullet, the Sainte Rose de Lima school closes
On Wednesday January 31, 2024, the Sainte Rose de Lima institution announced the suspension of face-to-face classes following a stray bullet which hit the window of a classroom full of students, before falling back into the playground. In order to guarantee the safety of students, faculty and administrative staff, the school has opted to continue distance learning until further notice.
