Haiti - Politic : Installation of new Director General at the National Office of Post 04/11/2011 10:09:11 Public operators who stay the course in this ever-changing postal environment, are those who have been able to acquire human, material and technological resources, essential to the strengthening and modernization of their structure. In the case of Haiti, the Post Office, a public company if any, whose one of the major assignment is to provide local services to citizens, has never been able since its creation, to put itself at the height of its ambitions that should be its own ambitions, facing difficulties of any kind, to properly fulfill its mission. The deficiencies that affect the institution, are a major obstacle to its modernization and its dynamisation, essential to the sustainable development of postal services. Ladies and Gentlemen, The world changes, the postal sector with it. Clear lessons learned from the various debates on the World Postal crisis showed that key elements of success for the postal sector, are innovation, diversification and regulation. Also, to be effective, the posts must evolve to match the reality of today's postal sector and to anticipate changes. It's in this context particularly difficult, that you will take, Mr. Director General, the reins of the Post Office of Haiti, the task is daunting but not insurmountable. In his installation speech, Jean Ernest Paul, the new Director General of the Post Office of Haiti stressed "...ago two decades, the postal administration of Haiti was could be compared with the best postal administration of the region, I mean the region of Central America, Caribbean and this, in the words of experts from the Universal Postal Union and the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal.
