Haiti - Politic : PM Henry in Puerto Rico seeks to return to Haiti

Tuesday March 5, 2024, the plane carrying Prime Minister Ariel Henry and members of the Haitian delegation from New Jersey to Port-au-Prince did not receive authorization to land at Toussaint International Airport Louverture, for security reasons before asking to land in the Dominican Republic, which was refused as the plane did not have a flight plan.

"We received information that this plane did not enter the airspace of the Dominican Republic and did not have the flight plan to come towards us," declared Héctor Porcella, Executive Director of the Dominican Republic. Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) adding that the plane then headed towards Puerto Rico believing that from now on its situation "is managed directly with the United States from Haiti."

Ariel Henry's plane landed late in the afternoon at Luiz Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan (the capital), confirmed Sheila Angleró Spokesperson for the Executive Branch of Puerto Rico

Although Ariel Henry is not banned from returning to Haiti, the armed gangs who are sowing terror in the country have forced airlines and private planes to cancel all their flights until further notice.

From a close source, the Prime Minister is looking for a flight to Haiti, however, the closure of Dominican airspace complicates the process and no one knows when he will return to the country.
