French Embassy : Extended closure

As a precautionary measure, the French Embassy in Haiti is closed to the public until Friday March 22, 2024. The visa department will be available in the morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for passport collections only. No new requests will be received and all appointments for submitting files will be postponed at a later date.

The Pope calls for support for a peaceful transition

Sunday March 17, 2024, Pope Francis after praying the midday Angelus in front of approximately 20,000 faithful gathered in Saint-Pierre Square, called for the restoration of constitutional order in Haiti, prey to chaos due to the control of gangs over a large part of its territory "I invite all the political and social actors to abandon any personal interest and to engage in a spirit of solidarity in the pursuit of the common good, supporting a peaceful transition to a country that, with the help of the international community, may be equipped with solid institutions capable of restoring order and tranquillity among its citizens."

Road accident at least 23 victims

Sunday March 17, 2024, on national road number 2, near Cavaillon, an accident involving a bus coming from Jérémie which was going to Port-au-Prince which overturned, left at least 3 dead and around twenty injured, some seriously.

PAM : A daily meal for 200,000 children in February

The World Food Program (WFP) informs "In February, 200,000 children out of 420,000 registered received a daily meal thanks to the school feeding program of the World Food Program (WFP). For some, it is the only full meal of the day. The current security situation limits our actions, but we persist despite everything."

63 Filipinos will be evacuated from Haiti

The Philippine Government is preparing to repatriate at least 63 of its citizens in Haiti. Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo had approved the recommendation to declare the situation at Alert Level 3 which means Filipinos can be voluntarily repatriated to the Philippines.
