Haiti - Easter 2024 : Reflection message from Lesly Condé 31/03/2024 10:09:15 Message from Lesly Condé: “Dear compatriots and friends from everywhere, Dear compatriots and friends everywhere, Frè m, sè m ak zanmi m toupatou, I greatly appreciate the great privilege of being able to be in your company again this year so that we can reflect on the occasion of this Easter Sunday. The celebration of Easter is a festive occasion that brings together relatives and friends for moments of meditation and prayer. Easter Sunday is, invariably, a day with victorious symbolism that speaks to us of renewal and hope. It also speaks to us about love of neighbor in a world where greed and hatred seem to be gaining more and more ground. As for me, I am very grateful to you for welcoming me into your homes. I hope this moment will be as edifying for you as it is pleasant for me. In Haiti, we pay special attention to Easter Sunday. It is, indeed, one of the most joyous occasions for Christians everywhere. Songs in all languages express the gratitude and joy of believers. It’s an enriching atmosphere that keeps recurring as the years go by. It is as if we are witnessing the glorious phenomenon of resurrection each time. Worship is, naturally, more colorful, and the optimism of Easter Sunday is something we want to keep throughout the year. There is symbolism in the celebration of Easter and the mystery of the resurrection that applies to our lives as mortals and sinners. The dark and painful moments following the horrible death of Jesus Christ symbolize the darkness that takes possession of our souls when we live in sin. The resurrection of Jesus Christ speaks to us of the immense goodness of the creator, and of the redemption which is always within our reach. Of all the Christian holidays, Easter is, without a doubt, one of the most significant. It is also an occasion for fervent prayer and intense reflection. We cannot help but think of God's love for mankind. We know that despite our imperfections, the architect of the universe loved us so much that he agreed to submit his son Jesus Christ to humiliation, bodily suffering and death for our salvation. Our celebration today is therefore one of love and faith. The sacrifice of Jesus is the most convincing proof of the love of the Most High for us humans who are mere sinners. There is also the physical suffering and humiliation to which the son of God agreed to subject himself because of our sins. All of this should remind us that we are imperfect, and that we must learn to forgive the imperfections of our fellow human beings. We all need forgiveness at one time or another. In closing, I thank you once again for giving me your attention. I invite you to meditate on the deep meaning of the mystery of the resurrection. I take this opportunity to wish you an excellent Easter Sunday in peace, harmony and security. Let's always keep a place in our hearts for love." HL/ HaitiLibre
