160,000 people can no longer return home

Since the start of the year, the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince has seen its displaced population increase by 15%. In the Haitian capital, 160,000 people can no longer return home.

The USA reiterates its commitments

Jon Finer, the principal US deputy national security adviser, said during a meeting with leaders of African-American civil rights groups that the United States will continue "[...] to work with Haitian stakeholders and international partners to fight against instability in Haiti, [...] to support the Haitian people and guarantee a better future for the country," adding "this joint work is envisaged in the long term and with the main objective of promoting democratic governance, citizen security and economic progress in Haiti."

100,000 meals distributed to displaced people

Despite very limited funds and access, the World Food Program (WFP), the Center for Peasant Animation and Community Action (CAPAC) and the Group for Inclusion, Research and Development Support Haiti (GIRADEL Haiti) have expanded from 3 to 16 assistance sites, serving more than 100,000 meals to 23,000 displaced people since the start of the latest wave of violence in Port-au-Prince.

The Ambulance Center is back in service

The National Ambulance Center (CAN) resumed service this week after being forced to close its doors on March 21 due to gang violence in the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince.
