Haiti - Security : The École Normale Supérieure in the downtown set on fire

The Rectorate of the State University of Haiti (RUEH), in a note of protest, informs that the entities of the UEH continue to suffer devastating attacks despite repeated cries of alarm.

After having deplored and denounced the acts of vandalism and looting of the premises of the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (FAMV) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41869-haiti-ueh-catastrophic-partial-assessment-of-the-looting-of-the-famv.html and the Faculty of Sciences (FDS) https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-41889-icihaiti-ueh-the-faculty-of-sciences-attacked-vandalized-and-looted.html as well as the illegal occupation of that of the Faculty of Applied Linguistics (FLA) by displaced people, now it is the turn of the [former] premises of the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in the downtown of Port-au-Prince [Street Monseigneur Guilloux].

These premises which host part of the activities of the ENS were set on fire. While waiting for an estimate of the damage, at least 6 classrooms were destroyed by fire according to initial findings.

"The Rectorate denounces and condemns this barbaric act committed against the main public university center for training secondary school teachers in Haiti. It is an undeniable fact that the current situation gives free rein to ill-intentioned individuals to attack all kinds of local institutions without any fear. And unfortunately the UEH also pays the price.

The Rectorate, not knowing which way to turn, wonders when will the end of these repeated attacks against the infrastructure of the State University of Haiti which constitutes the most important university heritage of the Nation ?"
