Nesmy Manigat, the resigning Minister of National Education (MENFP) intends to reaffirm his determination to fight against acts of violence inside schools, in all their forms. The ministry recalls that school is a space where students must learn to live with respect for each other and with dignity.

The Minister informs that he has decided to suspend the management license of Clément Geffrard Lanier, Administrative Director of the "Georges Sylvain Institution" in Fresino (the town of Saint-Marc), after the serious violence committed against a student of this school. The management license of Félix Estimé, the director of the school, was also suspended.

The behavior of this director does not respect any principle in school matters, nor what is said about the legal provisions on the prohibition of corporal punishment in schools.

As part of the efforts to further guarantee the well-being of the school every day, the Minister is also taking other measures to give this child the psychological framework necessary to avoid any damage to his academic work and is in contact with the judicial authorities in this case for the legal consequences..

Training will also continue to be organized to help school principals better understand their responsibilities in terms of school climate and student well-being, as provided for in international conventions and the Haitian law on the protection of child rights that all school staff must respect at all times.
