Haiti - FLASH : Three missionaries, including an American couple killed by gangs
Two Americans and a Haitian director were killed in a gang attack in Lison 49, in Plaine, north of Port-au-Prince, an area under the control of armed gangs for several months, announced "Mission in Haiti" an evangelical American NGO.

The victims are David Lloyd III (23 years old) aka "Davy", his wife, Natalie (Baker) Lloyd, 21 years old (the daughter of Ben Baker a Republican Representative from the State of Missouri) and Jude Montis (20 years old) a Haitian director of the organization.

The Facebook account of "Mission in Haiti" summarizes the thread of events of this drama which took place on the night of May 23 to 24, 2024 :

"[...] This evening when Davy, Natalie and the kids were coming out of Youth at the church they were ambushed by a gang of 3 trucks full of guys. Davy was taken to the house tied up and beat. The gang then took our trucks and loaded everything up they wanted and left.

Another gang came after to see what was going on and if they could help, so they say. No one understood what they were doing, not sure what took place but one was shot and killed and now this gang went into full attack mode. Davy, Natalie and Jude was in my house at the end of the property using the star link internet to call me [...] the gangs has shot all the windows out of the house and continue to shoot. Their lives are in danger."

The NGO tried in vain to evacuate the missionaries and negotiate with the gang to stop the attack.

"I have been trying all my contacts to get a police armored car there to evacuate them out to safety but can't get anyone to do. I also am trying to negotiate with the gang so how much $ to stand down and let them leave and get to safety. PLEASE PRAY- Going to be a long night. The phones have all died I can't get a hold of anybody for the past several hours now to know what was going on"

"My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. I’ve never felt this kind of pain. Most of you know my daughter and son-in-law Davy and Natalie Lloyd are full time missionaries in Haiti. They were attacked by gangs this evening and were both killed. They went to Heaven together," the Republican lawmaker wrote on Facebook.

Reacting to the death of the 3 missionaries, Frantz Elbé Director General a.i. of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in a note said "to take note of the villainous assassination of two American nationals and a Haitian citizen, on the night of May 23 to 24, 2024, in Lizon, Commune of Croix-des-Bouquets. »

"In this painful circumstance, the Directorate extends its sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims, and to the United States Embassy affected by these brutal disappearances.

He takes the opportunity to announce that a judicial investigation has already been opened by the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ), with a view to identifying and arresting all authors, co-authors and accomplices of these heinous acts [...]"
