Haiti - Politic : Michel Martelly has met Raúl Castro

Yesterday the President of Haiti, Michel Martelly had a meeting with his Cuban counterpart Raúl Castro, according to the information currently available during the meeting the two leaders discussed of the cooperation between the two nations, the current state of bilateral relations and the perspectives, of partnerships, and other issues of mutual interest and international reality.

The Haitian dignitary was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Laurent Lamothe, while the Cuban President Raúl Castro was accompanied by Vice-President of the Council of State Esteban Lazo and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

Previously Michel Martelly went on the Plaza de la Revolución to lay a wreath at the monument of Cuban independence Jose Marti, thus paying a tribute to the national hero of Cuba.

During the day, Michel Martelly who is at the head of a delegation of 29 members also held a working meeting to assess the cooperation agreements with the island, meeting attended by the Vice President Lazo, the Minister of foreign trade and foreign investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, and other officials, for the moment no information is available on the outcome of this meeting.

Before leaving Cuba, the Haitian President will travel to Santiago de Cuba, about 850km east of the capital, Havana, to visit various places of historical and social interest.

The Haitian President and his delegation will leave the island of Cuba today from the Antonio Maceo Airport located in Santiago de Cuba.
