Haiti - Politic : Chancellor Dupuy intends to continue reforms in Haitian diplomacy

Dominique Dupuy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs on a radio station of the capital reiterated her firm determination to pursue reforms within Haitian diplomacy.

According to the Chancellor, there is an urgent need to reestablish the principle of rotation within Haitian diplomacy, because all diplomacy in the world uses this principle to revitalize the diplomatic corps.

To this end, nearly 80 diplomats and members of diplomatic representations were recalled with the agreement of Prime Minister Conille, specifying that these recalls should not be interpreted as a revocation explaining "The recall allows evaluate, inventory, reallocate and make resources available to central services."

She affirms that her approach aims to revitalize Haitian diplomacy, a hugely budget-intensive sector, so that it can bring positive impacts on investment in Haiti. In addition, Ms. Dupuy indicated that this reform plans to create a certain balance between diplomacy and the Nation's resources.

Furthermore, Dominique Dupuy addressed the imbalance that exists between women and men in Haitian diplomacy. According to her, this imbalance is shocking and a large proportion of these women, who have more than fourteen years in diplomacy, do not benefit from any promotion.

This is why 33 women obtained promotion to Head of Post. From now on, 50% of Haiti's missions around the world will be led by women. "This decision aims to repair a certain injustice, because they were not sufficiently represented," indicated Chancellor Dupuy.
