iciHaiti - Politic : Civil Society Initiative concerned by the development of the security situation

The Civil Society Initiative (ISC) observes with great concern the evolution of the security and socio-political situation in Haiti, since the taking office of the Transitional Presidential Council and the Government, led by Prime Minister Garry Conille.

On the security front, it is obvious that the Prime Minister's invitation to bandits to lay down their weapons and recognize the authority of the State has been ignored. On the contrary, the Gangs, despite the losses recorded, are organizing themselves to face the interventions of the combined national and multinational forces.

The gangs seem to have no difficulty in recruiting and supplying themselves with weapons and ammunition.

It seems that national and international organized crime is determined to keep Haiti in a weak and chaotic state status, unable to protect its population and provide them with the most basic services such as security, health, education, or even the possibility of survival.

Criminals are organizing themselves to continue using our country as a space of operation and transit for their trafficking of all kinds.

The current leaders as well as the international community, which provides support to Haiti, must take the measure of the danger that threatens the country and the region. Their efforts must be commensurate with their responsibilities and the current challenge, both in terms of funding, personnel, equipment, ammunition and expertise.

The troops and equipment in place are currently insufficient...
