Haiti - Case Bélizaire : Garry Conille and Thierry Mayard-Paul will not be interpellated
In the report of the Commission of the Senate, responsible for investigating on the arbitrary arrest of Deputy Arnel Bélizaire, on October 27, the Commission, in its specific recommendations, mentioned at point F "That the Prime Minister Mr. Garry Conille, the Ministers Me Josué Pierre-Louis of the justice and public safety and Me Thierry Mayard Paul Minister of Interior, of Territorial Collectivities and National Defense, are interpellated before the Senate so that they respond of acts committed or to the acts that the government has placed and to which they have removed themselves."

Seeming satisfied with the resignation of the Minister of Justice, Josué Pierre-Louis, the Senators Lambert and Youri Latortue have succeeded to make vote by 11 votes for, 6 against and 4 abstentions, the deletion of item F of the report of the Commission, thus canceling the nterpellation by the Senate, of the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.

A vote highly challenged by the Senator rançois Anick Joseph lamenting that "once again, the trick has won and the nation has lost," asserting that "the vote is illegal, it was necessary to obtain an absolute majority of senators, we have violated our own laws..." For his part, the Senator Francky Exius denounces an unfair vote, stating that "the deputies will reconsider this decision..." The Senator Moïse Jean-Charles, bitter opponent of President Martelly, demanded that action be taken against the Head of State and all persons involved in the case Bélizaire.

Following the reading of its report, the Commission recommended that the President Michel Martelly present public apology for the violation of articles114 and 115 of the Constitution concerning the arrest of a deputy in office. "If the President agrees to make a public apology, he will come out great of this crisis and this will allow us to move forward on important issues," said Senator Steven Benoit.
