Haiti - NOTICE : New provisions to combat maritime piracy...

Jocelin Villier, Director General of the National Port Authority (APN) informs port users, maritime agencies, operators and managers of port facilities that, in order to strengthen maritime security, new measures to combat, prevent and protect against maritime piracy have been taken :

1) The deployment of On-Board Protection Teams (EPF) composed of public security forces to escort any vessel heading to the port;

2) Constant surveillance from the Search and Rescue Center, which allows monitoring via the "sea vision" computer system and the "COSPAS - SARSAT" beacons;

3) The availability of private security and defense agencies to ensure security on board;

4) Strengthening security in the immediate environment of the Port of Port-au-Prince facilities.

Furthermore, the APN informs the general public and ship enthusiasts in particular that the port facilities of the International Port of Port-au-Prince will be open to cabotage for the transport of goods from Friday, October 18, 2024.

Cabotage for passenger transport will be opened later, on a date that the General Directorate of the APN will communicate.
