Haiti - FLASH : Installation of the new transitional government (Video)
On Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Villa d'Accueil, the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) officially installed the new Government of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43607-haiti-flash-cpt-appoints-a-new-prime-minister.html

This ceremony took place in the presence of members of the Presidential Transitional Council, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, members of his ministerial cabinet, the Commander of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) Lieutenant General Derby Guerrier, the Acting Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PHH), Rameau Normil, leaders of Civil Society and the private business sector, some signatory members of the April 3 agreement and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps.

In his speech, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé stated that all actions of the Government he leads will have a single objective.

Excerpts from Prime Minister Fils-Aimé’s speech :
"[...] It is with a deep sense of duty and responsibility that I address you today to proceed with the official installation of our Transitional Government. I would like to renew my gratitude to the Transitional Presidential Council for the trust placed in me. This trust honors me and obliges me to work tirelessly to meet the expectations of our fellow citizens in these times of great challenges. I would like, first of all, to salute and thank the members of the outgoing government for the work accomplished in an exceptionally difficult context. Your dedication and sacrifices deserve the respect and recognition of the entire Nation. To those who join this new team, I invite you to fully appreciate the extent of the responsibilities that fall to you. We are a diverse team, representative of the country's various political sensibilities and families, because we firmly believe that only the participation and contribution of all will be able to produce effective and sustainable responses to the problems that beset our country [...]

[...] The primary objective of our action is to prepare the ground for credible, inclusive and transparent elections. We are here for a limited period. We are a transitional government, tasked with laying the foundations for renewal and giving way to a legitimate government based on universal suffrage. Our mission requires cohesion and discipline. Cohesion, first within this Government, but also with the Transitional Presidential Council, in strict compliance with the spirit of the Constitution and the provisions of the agreement of April 3, 2024. Discipline, because the means are limited and expectations are immense. We must commit public spending with rationality and austerity in the greatest transparency. Ladies and Gentlemen Ministers and Secretaries of State, There is no time to lose. This Government is taking office with a sense of urgency and gravity. We have neither a state of grace nor time for observation. Every hour counts [...]

[...] our mission is clear. We must restore hope to our people by resolutely tackling the major challenges facing Haiti. Insecurity, in all its forms, must be vigorously combated, including physical insecurity, economic insecurity and food insecurity. The security situation requires an immediate and coordinated response. The education of our children, the cornerstone of all progress, must be guaranteed at all times and in all places throughout the territory. Roads and major highways must once again become paths of life and prosperity. And those who have had to abandon their homes must be able to return home safely [...]"

In his speech, President pro tempore Leslie Voltaire told the newly installed ministers that there was no more time, that they had to act quickly to save the transition. He reminded them of the urgency of working to help the Council succeed in the 5 objectives : public and national security, economic recovery, infrastructure rehabilitation, food security and health, the national conference and constitutional change, justice and elections.
