101 years of the FAMV

International NGOs on all fronts

In October, the escalation of violence in Port-au-Prince, Delmas and Tabarre displaced more than 10,000 people. To respond to urgent needs, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and its partners distributed non-food items and emergency shelter kits to nearly 2,000 households. In addition, IOM continued its collaborative efforts with the World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF to relocate families displaced from schools in Port-au-Prince, allowing for the resumption of educational activities. Expulsions from the neighboring country increased. IOM assisted more than 4,000 migrants, including by providing them with cash, food, medical support, family reunification, and housing.

The FUSION Party calls for urgent dialogue

The Fusion Party of Haitian Social Democrats (PFSDH) calls for urgent dialogue for a Haitian and sustainable solution to the security crisis. In a note, the Fusion Party writes, "We, the PFSDH, are dismayed and deeply concerned like many other compatriots in the face of the deterioration of the living conditions of the population imposed by the security crisis, have decided to launch this cry of blood from the depths of our bowels to say : stop it !"

MMSS Mandate : Russia Highlights US Inconsistency

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Vassili Alexievich Nebenzia, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Security Council, declared after expressing his opposition to the transformation of the MMSS into a UN Mission of Beus Helmets (Peacekeeping Force) "I want to highlight the inconsistency of Washington's approach [...] The MMSS mandate has just been renewed for one year [...] and Washington has not fully paid its contribution to the Mission [...]"
