After a first trainer training session in September 2024 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43218-haiti-education-training-of-trainers-for-the-4-new-subjects-of-the-3rd-cycle-of-fundamental-education.html , the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), organized at the Lycée National of Pétion-ville, from Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 December 2024, a second session for the four new subjects of the fundamental school : Teaching of Education for Technology and Productive Activities (ETAP), Aesthetic and Artistic Education (EEA), Physical and Sports Education (EPS) and Education for Citizenship (EC), for around fifty inspectors and educational advisors from 14 of the 16 School Districts of the Departmental Directorate of Education of the West (DDEO).

This second three-day training session aims to strengthen the teaching skills of local trainers, namely educational advisors and area inspectors, so that they are able to train, in turn, teachers in public and private primary schools in teaching the four new subjects

According to Augustin Antoine, the Minister of National Education, today the new teaching paradigm focuses more on the skills-based approach, which calls on the reasoning and know-how of the young person, gradually putting aside the objective-based pedagogy which is based on the student's memory capacity.

The objective of the MENFP is to train 10,000 teachers, at a rate of 1,000 per Departmental Directorate of Education (DDE) by January 2025, declared Augustin Antoine, the Minister of National Education.

Kendy Nicolas, the Director of Fundamental Education, stated that all the conditions are met for this training to give the results expected by the Ministry.

Claudin St Jour, Head of the Vocational Training Directorate, indicated that, even if the Minister of National Education had to postpone the official integration of these 4 new subjects in the official exams of 2024 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42597-haiti-flash-postponement-of-the-integration-of-the-4-new-subjects-in-the-9th-af-exams.html , for the moment, all the steps have already been taken so that students can take these tests in the official exam of the year 2024-2025.
