The CG of PAP refuses to leave his post
The installation of Me Frantz Monclair, the new Commissioner of the Government a.i (CG) of Port-au-Prince scheduled for Monday, January 13, 2025, did not take place. Me Bourgoin, the current Government Commissioner, believes that he cannot leave his post for another while he sits on the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), relying on Article 10 of the law creating the CSPJ which stipulates: "The magistrates who are members of the CSPJ cannot be appointed to another judicial post, even on an equal basis, during the entire exercise of their mandate at the CSPJ, except by resigning prior to the appointment procedure." Adding "I am not attached to a job but I am attached to respecting the law and procedure [...] It is not by changing the Government Commissioner that the legal problems will be resolved [...]"

Canada unable to deport a Haitian criminal
The Canadian Government has been unable for 13 years to deport a Haitian Samuel Jean-Baptiste (39 years old) a violent repeat offender, under notice of deportation for serious criminality in 2011. Since that time, Samuel Jean-Baptiste has multiplied appeals to avoid being deported. Three weeks ago, a federal court judge suspended his deportation to Haiti.
