Jean Massillon, Mayor of Kenscoff, remains cautious about the toll of the gang attack on the population of Kenscoff, a toll that risks being very heavy. On Wednesday, January 29, Michel-Ange Louis-Jeune, Spokesperson for the Haitian National Police (PNH), informed local media that at least twenty armed attackers had been fatally injured during clashes with law enforcement.

On Thursday, January 30, at a press conference, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé deplored the fact that the Government, as well as the police, were aware of...

"[...] the intelligence services of the PNH, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice and Security told us that there was going to be a problem in Kenscoff [...]"

The Head of Government took the opportunity to pay tribute to the victims, recalling that the day before, he had delegated to the new Minister of Health the task of providing medicines and aid to the hospitalized wounded. Fils-Aimé also stressed that he had instructed the Ministry of the Interior to send aid to the displaced persons in the area.

On Saturday, February 1st, 2025, the National Human Rights Defense Network (RNDDH), in a preliminary report, indicated that at least 50 residents were killed and more than 100 houses burned during the attack in Kenscoff... "The report is not finished, we are still collecting data," said Marie Rosy Auguste Ducéna, program manager for the RNDDH, recalling that this attack also left many injured (the Fermathe hospital received several dozen injured) and nearly 500 people were displaced, fleeing the violence…

On Sunday, February 2nd, Patrick Pelissier, Minister of Justice and Public Security, accompanied by the Chief Inspector General of the PNH Frantz Termilus, visited the Kenscoff Police Station to ensure that measures had been taken to address the persistent threats to the safety of residents in the commune of Kenscoff.

He also recalled that the PNH is fully mobilized to thwart the gangs that are spreading terror on the national territory. Furthermore, the Minister announced that the Government would provide care for the displaced persons of Kenscoff and was actively working to allow them to return to their homes safely.
