Haiti - Politic : Advisor Saint-Cyr advocates the inclusion of women in decision-making spheres

Transition Advisor Laurent Saint-Cyr took part in the first edition of the Haitian Women's Leadership Forum, which was held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Karibe Hotel https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44193-haiti-politic-1st-women-s-leadership-forum-in-haiti-declaration.html

In his speech, Advisor Saint-Cyr stressed the importance of inclusive governance to build a better future for every daughter and son in the country. He stressed the need to fully integrate women into decision-making spheres.

"The representation of women in decision-making bodies must not be limited to a number, to a quota of 30%. Our goal must be to give every woman the opportunity to take an active part in the conduct of our country's affairs. Haiti needs the quality and diversity of their talents, the wealth of their skills, their expertise and their vision."

Saint-Cyr recalled the urgency of organizing credible, transparent and inclusive elections, where women must be major actors in the democratic process as voters, candidates, observers and leaders.

"Haiti needs all its human resources to build its future and women are a fundamental pillar. Women’s leadership is not a secondary issue : it is essential to the progress of our nation. I call on every woman to dare, to assert herself and to get fully involved."

He took the opportunity to salute the presence and commitment of women within the Haitian State, paying tribute to Councilor Régine Abraham (observer member without voting rights), to the female ministers of the current government, as well as to those who, through their work and their leadership, enrich the governance of the country.

Concluding by calling on all sectors to work together to create the necessary conditions for the full and complete exercise of the leadership of Haitian women.
