Haiti - Politic : Leslie Voltaire presents his successor to the Multinational Mission

Sunday, March 1st, 2025, Leslie Voltaire, the pro tempore President of the Transitional Council whose term ends on March 7, 2025, accompanied by Normil Rameau, Commander of the Haitian National Police (PNH), went to LSA 2 to introduce Presidential Advisor Fritz Alphonse Jean to the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS), who will succeed him as President for the next 6 months. He took the opportunity to salute the dedication of the Mission's contingents who collaborate with the PNH to combat gang violence. He also expressed his condolences to the members of the Mission following the death of Kenyan officer Samuel Kaetuai https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44351-haiti-news-zapping.html .

President Voltaire acknowledged the significant achievements made through the efforts of the Mission’s contingents from Kenya, Jamaica, Guatemala, El Salvador, the Bahamas and Belize.

Welcoming the Haitian delegation were Colonel Chevron Henry, Deputy Mission Commander, as well as Operations Commander Stephen Chebet and other senior Mission officials.

Colonel Chevron Henry expressed his gratitude for the continued support of the Haitian authorities, the PNH, the Haitian people, local and international partners and all stakeholders engaged in the mission. Furthermore, he highlighted that the collaboration between the MSS and the PNH has led to significant successes, particularly in the Artibonite and Kenscoff regions, among others.

A particularly notable moment was the Mission’s renewed commitment to continue decisive operations, with officers remaining more motivated than ever to fight gangs, despite the loss of one of their own.
