According to Brazilian Ambassador Luis Fernando de Carvalho, there are currently approximately 180,000 Haitians living in Brazil. Children born in Brazil to a Haitian father or mother enjoy the same civil rights as any Brazilian child (health, education, etc...) Haitians holding a valid Brazilian humanitarian visa can travel to Brazil without difficulty from anywhere in the world. In 2024, approximately 10,000 humanitarian visas (VITEM 3) were granted.
