Haiti - Politic : Message from the Presidency and the Government

In a note dated April 12, 2025, "the Presidency and Government of Haiti express their solidarity with the Haitian people and their deepest dismay at this critical time when the country is in the grip of unprecedented massacres and acts of violence.

The criminal nature of the actions of armed gangs, which are supported by a transnational criminal network and a mafia sector in Haiti, today threatens the very foundations of the Nation.

The Executive Branch warns the population against the actions of attackers, both old and new, who are fostering a climate of fear among the population and issuing threats against state institutions.

The restoration of security throughout the national territory remains and will continue to be the strategic priority of the Transition, launched in 2024. This priority is also the major and legitimate demand of the Haitian people, who are demanding the safe and complete resumption of social, economic, political, and cultural life.

To this end, the Presidency and the Government call for citizen vigilance and have instructed law enforcement to immediately implement all measures capable of safeguarding the security of Haitians and ensuring the integrity of republican institutions.

At the same time, Haitian diplomacy remains engaged in ongoing advocacy with the United Nations Security Council and member states to request urgent consideration of proposals for significantly strengthening international support for the cause of restoring security in Haiti.

The Executive Branch, while reiterating its unwavering commitment to working tirelessly to support the work of Haitian law enforcement and the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti, calls on the various vital sectors of national life to avoid all forms of violence and encourages dialogue and cohesion, in order to renew the shared commitment to a transition that creates favorable conditions for the restoration of democratic institutions in peace and security.
