Haiti - FLASH : Demolition of «Pequeño Haiti» in the Dominican Republic, leaving thousands of compatriots homeless...
The illegal Haitian ghetto of Mata Mosquito, better known in the Dominican Republic as "Pequeño Haiti" located on the coast of Bávaro, is being completely demolished as part of a massive operation supported by the authorities. Military personnel, specialized agents from the Defense Forces, and the police have militarized the area.

Hundreds of shacks, houses, buildings up to three stories high, and businesses have been demolished using heavy equipment. Haitians have watched helplessly and desperately as their homes have been destroyed. Since Tuesday morning, when the demolitions began, more than 300 buildings have already been razed.

On Wednesday, evictions and demolitions continued in Mata Mosquito, with the use of heavy machinery. Thousands of Haitians, most of them irregular migrants, find themselves homeless after living in these homes for five, ten, or even fifteen years. Dozens of trucks and vans left the site, carrying the remains of the homes demolished hours earlier.

Many are wondering where this order came from, issued without prior notice or documentation. However, City Councilor Dionicio López, who closely followed the events before, during, and after the nationalist march on Sunday, March 30, believes this is the second part of a larger plan https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44596-haiti-news-zapping.html and https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44585-haiti-flash-a-few-hours-before-a-nationalist-march-in-pequeno-haiti-the-atmosphere-remains-tense.html

The deportation operations have continued, even though the new wave of demolitions has eclipsed their public presence. In Mata Mosquito, the dreams, experiences, and journeys of those who lived there are now only living memories in the minds of many Haitians.
