Haiti - Social : Towards the construction of the first reception and reintegration center for street children
Official launch of the construction of the very first Reception and Reintegration Center for Street Children, an ambitious initiative led by the Community Police, in close collaboration with the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES).

The preparatory meeting for this major project was held at the FAES premises. Serge Gabriel Collin, Director General, and Étienne Salvador, National Coordinator of the Community Police, laid the foundations for a strong and transformative partnership aimed at providing concrete, humane, and sustainable solutions to the alarming situation of children living on the streets.

This Center, which will be located in Tabarre, will initially accommodate 50 children aged 5 to 18, with capacity expected to gradually expand.

The objective : to offer an alternative to these young people experiencing social disruption, exposed to violence, exploitation, abandonment, or forced recruitment by armed groups.

This project aims to :
• Provide safe and dignified accommodation;
• Guarantee a regular and balanced diet;
• Provide academic and psychosocial support and sports training;
• Prepare for their social reintegration in a spirit of kindness and structured supervision.

But beyond physical and social protection, the aim is to give these children back something essential : the right to dream; the right to be protected; the right, quite simply, to be children.

Particular attention will be paid to young girls, through measures to prevent teenage pregnancy, combat sexual violence, and promote their development in a healthy, respectful, and safe environment.

Through this Center, the FAES reaffirms its vocation: to listen to the silent cries of the most vulnerable, support initiatives that bring hope, and stand alongside those who most need national solidarity. This center will not be just an infrastructure. He will become a symbol of a society that refuses to abandon its children.
