Haiti - Culture : The Prime Minister at the 31st edition of Livres en folie

Thursday, June 19, 2025, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé graced the 31st edition of Livres en folie with his presence, held this year at the Collège des Frères in Pétion-ville. This event, which has become a must-see in Haitian cultural life over the decades, brilliantly celebrates the richness of our literature.

On this occasion, the Head of Government met with the authors at a book signing session, warmly congratulated them for their contribution to the country's intellectual growth, and praised the vitality of the Haitian literary scene.

The Prime Minister emphasized the remarkable commitment of the organizers who, for 31 years, have passionately carried the torch of this book festival. He expressed his deep admiration for their tenacity and dedication to promoting culture in an often difficult context.

But what particularly moved him was the massive presence of young girls and boys who came to meet the authors and their ideas. "These young people, eager for knowledge and words, are our greatest promise for the future. They embody the hope of a country that, despite its challenges, continues to believe in intelligence, creativity, and humanity," declared the Prime Minister, adding, "In troubled times, literature remains an act of resistance, a space for dreams and dialogue. Today, more than ever, it reminds us that it is through culture that nations are reborn."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC) participated in the Livres en folie festival for the first time. The Ministry exhibited 48 books by 26 different authors, including four book signings. The Ministry's booth was designed with particular attention paid to the Jean Price-Mars Diplomatic Academy, highlighting publications by diplomats, civil servants, ambassadors, ministers, and former ministers who have contributed to enriching Haiti's political, historical, geopolitical, and cultural thought.

Furthermore, the Ministry of National Education, a long-time partner of Livres en Folie, held a booth this year, in collaboration with the National Education Fund (FNE), where it displayed educational materials produced by Technical Directorates and the General Coordination of the Teaching and Quality Division as part of the NECTAR Project.

For much of the day, Minister Augustin Antoine and Professor Yves Roblin, Director General of the Ministry, warmly welcomed visitors.
