Two police officers killed and an armored vehicle set on fire

On the afternoon of Tuesday, July 22, a Haitian National Police (PNH) armored vehicle, patrolling Liancourt, a commune in Artibonite, fell into a deadly trap set by heavily armed bandits from the "Gran Grif" gang. Despite a heroic defense, they succumbed to the sheer number of attackers and their firepower. The death toll was high : at least two police officers from the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO) were killed, a third is missing, and only the driver managed to escape. A civilian scout accompanying the police was also fatally injured. The armored vehicle was set on fire. Information confirmed by Lionel Lazarre, Deputy Spokesperson for the PNH,

IBC Airways : Passenger Flights in September

The Director General of the National Airports Authority (AAN), Yves Ducarmel François, met with IBC Airways' Representative in Haiti, Dimitri Fouchard, to analyze and evaluate the company's operations at Antoine Simon Airport in Les Cayes. Following the meeting, it was agreed to initially prioritize cargo operations before considering passenger transport at a later date. A technical mission is expected this Wednesday to validate the location of two 40-foot containers for cargo logistics and two 20-foot containers for future administrative offices. The AAN announced that international passenger flights will resume operations at Antoine-Simon Airport 60 days after July 28, the scheduled start date for temporary development work.

At least 13 armored vehicles destroyed since June 2024

According to police sources, since June 2024, at least 13 armored vehicles belonging to the Haitian National Police (PNH) have been burned or destroyed across the country during clashes with armed groups.
