Haiti - Health : Rehabilitation of the Clinic of Saint Paul to Montrouis

The Embassy of Japan in Haiti has proceeded to the Ceremony of Inauguration of the "Development Project of the Maternity of the Clinic Saint Paul" to Montrouis. This project is funded to the tune of USD$101,656, is part of the program of "Assistance in the form of donations to local micro-projects contributing to human security" (APL) from the Japanese government.

Were present at the ceremony Mr. the Ambassador of Japan in Haiti, Kentaro Minami, Mr. the Director of the Clinic Saint Paul, Wilson Louis Jean, Mr. Jean Frantz Boucicot, Administrator of the Clinique St-Paul, the Reverend Father Rigal, Representative of the Parish Priest of Montrouis, Mr. The President of CASEC of Montrouis, Mr. Dorleyant Elider, the representative of the City Council of the Municipality of Arcahaie, Mr. Edris, the medical staff and patients of the Maternity.

The structure newly developed of the Clinic Saint Paul has, among other currently, three new consulting rooms for pregnant women, a new suite of bed, a laboratory for medical tests, two new dormitories for medical staff.

The objective pursued through this project is twofold, it is primarily to provide the clinic of a working space more appropriate and meeting to the needs of the maternity serving three communal sections and to increase the level of professionalism of the care staff by providing it with material and equipment appropriate to the type of care provided to the community.

Among the facilities provided by Japan, as part of the rehabilitation of the Maternity of the Clinic Saint Paul of Montrouis : hospital beds, microscopes, optical microscope, mégatoscope, otoscope, rhinoscope, incubators, pediatric digital scales and many supplies and medical accessories.

Through the program APL Japan continues to support efforts to improve the lives of the most vulnerable. It provides flexible financial support to NGOs and humanitarian non-profit organization to help implement local development projects.
