Haiti - Education : Patriotic appeal to the Haitian scientific community in the diaspora

Augustin Antoine, the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), is making a patriotic appeal to the Haitian scientific community in the diaspora, urging them to actively participate in the country's academic and intellectual renaissance.

The Minister aims to transform the "brain drain" into a return of knowledge. By creating bridges between national universities, high schools across the country, and the scientific diaspora, he intends to foster a dynamic and lasting reconnection between researchers in Haiti and those abroad. This strategy aims to build a Haiti of knowledge, capable of integrating research into its public policies, economy, governance, and culture.

Despite the efforts of its stakeholders, the Haitian university system still suffers from a lack of research, funding, scientific supervision, and modern infrastructure. The newly established Public Universities in the Regions (UPRs) require technical support, mentorship, international partnerships, and sustainable resources to consolidate their activities and generate knowledge for national development.

Aware of these realities, Minister Antoine intends to place the Haitian scientific diaspora at the heart of this new dynamic, not only as an intellectual partner but also as a strategic supporter of the National Education Fund (FNE), a central instrument of the country's public education policy.

This mobilization must be centered around the Ministry, as a return to the Alma Mater. The Ministry wishes to establish a structured program of scientific and academic cooperation enabling Haitian researchers living abroad to:

• Participate in the training of teachers and school administrators;

• Support the Departmental Directorates of Education (DDEs);

• Support the UPRs in their research, innovation, and institutional development efforts.

This is an intellectual collaboration, a network of solidarity among Haitian knowledge worldwide, fostering the exchange of ideas, data, and innovations for the benefit of the country.

It is not simply about gathering resources, but about uniting a national community around an ideal of knowledge, excellence, and progress. Through this appeal, Minister Antoine invites the Haitian scientific diaspora to reclaim its identity : the voice, the strength, and the light of a Haiti that still believes and refuses to give up.
