Haiti - Social : Distribution of 27,000 hot meals in one day

As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), through its Mobile Canteen program, carried out a large-scale distribution of 27,000 hot meals on Monday, November 3rd, to displaced persons in sites within the municipalities of Port-au-Prince and Pétion-ville. This initiative reflects FAES's continued commitment to supporting vulnerable families affected by the current humanitarian crisis.

The mobilized teams ensured distribution at several strategic locations, including: Lycée Marie Jeanne in Bois-Verna (10,000 meals), Club International in Frères (2,200 meals), DDO, rue Duncombe (2,100 meals), Sogesol in Lalue (1,920 meals), OPL, avenue Christophe (1,300 meals), Indigène, Lalue (1,080 meals), Communications 1 in Bois-Verna (3,000 meals)...

Through this act of solidarity, FAES reaffirms its commitment to responding, with dignity and compassion, to the urgent food needs of displaced families, while also contributing to preserving a minimum level of well-being within the most vulnerable communities.

Furthermore, at the Karibe Hotel, as part of its efforts to promote social welfare and community development across the country, the FAES (Fund for Social and Economic Development) officially launched its "Off-Site Restaurants" program on the same day. The event was attended by over one hundred guests, including representatives from partner restaurants, Georges Wilbert Franck, the Minister of Social Affairs, and Serge Gabriel Colin, the Director General of the FAES.

In his address, Serge Gabriel Colin announced that 105 restaurants would be supplied through this program. He emphasized that this initiative aims to strengthen the government's efforts in food security and social support.

For his part, Minister Georges Wilbert Franck commended the commitment of the service providers and partners involved in implementing the program. He also reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to supporting the most vulnerable segments of the population by guaranteeing them access to a hot meal every day at an affordable cost.
